Post-Divorce or General Relationship Struggles

The loss and grief that follows divorce can feel like being on a cliff edge. It’s overwhelming. I never thought I’d make it through when I once upon a time stood on that cliff edge. It’s such a time of huge change and shift in how you view yourself that you don’t even know where to start. You are no longer the spouse. But where to start? And there is hope. 

Similarly with relationships. Most of us never learnt the tools we need. To make matters worse, we often grew up with caregivers who weren’t the best role models, often through no fault of their own. Together we can break the cycle of unhealthy relationship habits.

In a simple 3 step, life skills coach process, we will explore your current state, what it means to you and what self-care habits you currently have. With simple tools, we’ll define a new state of being and together we’ll work on closing the gap. It’s about finding a new story and a new you in this new phase of life.

New Culture

Living in a new country is exciting and there is so much to learn about a different culture. However, it is also frightening and can be debilitating. Simple things like finding your local supermarket can be a challenge if you don’t speak the language. Connecting with people and struggling to find ‘your tribe’ can be lonely. I left my home country at the age of 4 and I’ve since lived in over 10 different different cultures and I learnt something new every time. It’s not just about re-inventing yourself but it’s also about accepting who you are.

In a simple 3 step, life skills coach, process, we’ll first review your values, dreams and goals and how they align with the culture and opportunities you’re living in. Secondly, we’ll define any gaps and thirdly, a plan to help you bridge those gaps.

New Jobs - New Commutes

Any work change can be disorienting and frightening. We hold onto the behaviours and habits that have served us well in the past but perhaps are no longer applicable. Perhaps a shift in thinking is required of you but you’re not sure where to start. And how can you be authentic in an environment that is not necessarily your chosen one? 

In a simple 3 step, life skills coach process, we’ll first review current state and what challenges and opportunities currently exist. Secondly, we’ll work through what an ideal reality looks like and what gaps currently exist. The third step often requires cultivating resilience and compassion that also support authenticity. And finally, we’ll develop a plan with the resources and self-care you need to be successful.

Post Retirement

Many of us define ourselves through our work but there is so much more to who we are as human beings. Not only that but society often has biases around retired people. It can suddenly be a very lonely phase of our lives but it doesn’t have to be. How can you put your wisdom and experience to good use? What are your passions or perhaps you’ve never had a chance to find them before? Now’s the time. 

In a simple 3 step, life skills coach process, we’ll first go through what retirement means to you as well as what expectations are around you. Secondly, we’ll go through life purpose and a holistic view of what it means to be human and part of society. From this, we can go into stage 3 where you can define your legacy. How can you leverage your hard work and values? And finally, we’ll work through a self-care strategy to allow you to implement your desires for this phase of new beginnings.

MINDFULNESS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

By learning some simple tools, you can gain a greater sense of control and ease. This course will incorporate the foundations of mindfulness with meditation, yoga, group discussions and self-inquiry practices. You will learn to develop a mindful-based approach to understanding and dealing with the stressors of life in order to make more fulfilling choices in life.

MEDITATION

Meditation is one of the key tools of mindfulness and helps us be in the present moment. The skill is to observe our thoughts without judgement and with curiosity and kindness. With time, you’ll be able to develop a breathing space between an external trigger and your emotional response. You’ll find calmness and a greater connectivity with those around you and life in general.

MEDITATIVE YOGA

Yoga is beautiful ancient practice to help use unite our minds and bodies to essentially reduce our “internal chat”. Meditative yoga is specifically about slowing down and really listening to our bodies and sensations. What pleasant, unpleasant or neutral sensations are going on during the different asanas? How do thoughts change accordingly? How can we use this to learn and change our damaging habits and limiting beliefs in every day life?

GROUP LIFE SKILLS COACH

Having others around us to empathise with us and share their own struggles is a powerful healing experience. As part of group coaching, you’ll still get 1 on 1 check-ins but you’ll also work through common life problems in a group. As a life skills coach, I’ll guide the group so everyone feels safe, heard and valued.
